Dispatch Courses

DISP 150

The Basic Course for Dispatch/Communications Operators is a 24-hour course designed and presented to support the newest dispatcher centers to the more advanced facilities supporting campus safety operations.  The course is consistent with the learning components of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) program, and its dispatch training outline for agencies.  The course offers a multi-subject presentation of several subjects, including:

  • Customer Services
  • Ethics in Communications
  • PTSD & Wellness Management
  • CAD Systems and Communications Center Design Considerations
  • Dispatcher Safety
  • Emergency Medical Dispatching
  • Campus Oriented Public Safety


DISP 155

The Dispatcher/Communications Operator Advanced Course offers scenario-based training and additional instruction.  This 16-hour course offers training in the following areas:

  • Tactical Dispatching
  • Emergency Preparedness
  • California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS)
  • Records Management
  • Crisis Event Dispatching
  • Technologies in the Dispatch Center

PREREQUISITE:  Completion of DISP 150 or a similarly-certified course is required prior to attending DISP 155.
